How Miami Gate Company Was Born in Miami

It started with a phone call from a woman in Hialeah whose gate had been stuck halfway open for four days. She’d already paid another company to fix it, and they’d come, tinkered for an hour, collected their money, and left with the gate working just long enough to get off her street. Two days later, it seized up again. When she called them back, nobody answered. She was scared. Her gate was the only thing between her house and a busy street, and it wouldn’t close.

We remember sitting in her driveway, looking at the chain drive somebody had installed incorrectly, and feeling a kind of anger we hadn’t felt about work in years. Not at the broken equipment. At the way she’d been treated. The industry had a bad habit: fix it fast, leave before the real problem shows up, and never answer the phone when the customer realizes it’s broken again. We promised ourselves right there, with grease on our hands and a stuck gate in front of us, that we’d run a different kind of company. One that answers the phone. One that fixes the actual problem, not the symptom. One that treats a gate in Hialeah with the same care as a gate in Boca Raton. That promise became Miami Gate Company, and we’ve kept it since 2012.

Our Founder’s Personal Connection to the Gate Repair Trade

The gate trade wasn’t a career path anybody planned for us. It found us through a broken hinge and a long, hot afternoon. We were working as a general maintenance tech, mostly patching fences and tightening loose hardware on rental properties across Miami. One day a homeowner asked if we could look at his driveway gate. It was a simple swing gate, the kind you see all over North Miami, and it had started sagging. He’d called three companies. One said he needed a full replacement for thousands. Another said the problem was the motor. A third never showed up. We looked at the gate for ten minutes and saw what was actually wrong: the hinge post had shifted in the ground, just enough to throw the whole leaf out of alignment.

We fixed it that afternoon with a post remount and a fresh set of bolts. The man’s wife came out with two glasses of cold water and asked how long it had taken us to learn gates. The truth was, we hadn’t. We’d just paid attention. That job felt different from everything else we’d done that month. It was a physical thing, with weight and tension and moving parts you could understand if you watched them long enough. The satisfaction of watching that gate swing true again, smooth and silent, stayed with us all the way home. We started taking on more gate work after that. Every job was a puzzle with real consequence: a gate that won’t open traps a family in their driveway. A gate that won’t close invites trouble. Fourteen years later, the feeling hasn’t dulled. We still get a quiet sense of accomplishment every time we dial in a Mighty Mule opener or balance a pair of Gatecraft hinges so the gate moves with one finger of pressure. If we weren’t doing this, we’d probably be doing something with our hands, fixing something else that people depend on without thinking about it until it breaks.

Meet Our Team – The Person Behind Every Job

Miami Gate Company is owner-operated out of Miami, FL. Our founder spent years learning this trade the hard way: on actual gates, in actual driveways, with real homeowners watching and hoping the second call would be the last one. No corporate training classroom. No rotating crew of strangers. The person who answers your questions is connected to a team that does the work, and the owner sets the standard on every job we take. State-licensed and insured & bonded, we treat your property the way we’d treat our own. Off the clock, you’ll find our founder coaxing a small vegetable garden through the Miami heat, which is a humbling hobby. Nothing teaches patience like growing tomatoes in July in this city. But it also teaches the same thing we practice in gate repair: pay attention, do it right the first time, and don’t cut corners when the weather turns against you. When we tell a homeowner we’ll be there, we mean it. When we take a job, we finish it. That’s not a slogan. It’s just how we’ve done it since day one.

Our Promise to Miami Homeowners

Every quote we give is written, itemized, and agreed to before we touch a single bolt. No surprises on the invoice. No “while we’re here, you also need” upselling. We replace parts with quality components from brands we’d put on our own gates: Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite. And we stand behind the work. If something we fixed fails because of our workmanship, we come back and make it right. We’ve built our name on that, one gate at a time, in Hialeah, North Miami, Boca Del Mar, and every neighborhood in between.

Our Credentials

  • State-licensed – every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires.
  • Insured & bonded – coverage is a requirement for the work we take on, protecting your property and ours.
  • Locally established – we’ve served Miami and the surrounding neighborhoods since 2012.
  • Strong local reputation – our work comes mostly from referrals and neighbors talking to neighbors.

What that means for you: when you bring someone onto your property, you’re trusting them with your security, your privacy, and your safety. A license proves they’ve met the state’s baseline. Insurance protects you if something goes wrong. Fourteen years of local work means we’ve seen every gate configuration Miami throws at us, from salt-air corrosion near the coast to sun-baked control boards in Delray Beach. That experience is the thing you can’t fake.

Rooted in Miami

We live here. We shop at the same stores, sit in the same traffic, and wave at the same neighbors as the people whose gates we fix. A gate in Boynton Beach dealing with coastal air isn’t the same as a gate in Kings Point dealing with afternoon heat. Knowing that difference comes from being part of this place. We’re not passing through. Miami is home, and the people here are our people.
